Nelson Baziwelo Zakeyo, executive director for Drug Fight Malawi, said his organisation is one of the very few organ- isations in the country that would like to see that there is total control in the use of Marijuana and other drug abuse in the country with the aim of protecting young people.

Zakeyo said there have been great changes since partnering with MAG- GA in the fight.

“We have been working with MAGGA on the development of a national alcohol policy in the country. You may wish to be informed that currently we have the policy but you also have to know that the owners of the policy is the government but as partners, Drug Fight Malawi and MAGGA have been working together with the government to see that the policy is well developed and also to see that it is adopted by the government so that it is implemented.

“The partnership has enabled the government to actually accept the policy which will go a long way in actually re- ducing harmful consumption of alcohol in the country. So, these are some of the products that have come because of the work of Drug Fight Malawi and MAGGA,” said Zakeyo.

He added: “Actually because of this good working relationship, we would like to go further and probably reach out to as many youths as possible.”
